Olsen Twins Design for High-Street Brand
We know them as the cute, innocent girls from Full House and the young women who revitalized grunge and boho-chic “I-just-tumbled-out-of-bed” looks. Now, style icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have released a first look at one of three Fall 2013 collections they’ve designed in collaboration with Bik Bok, a popular Norwegian fashion brand for young women, set to debut this August. It’s edgy, rocker-inspired and just another reason to love the Olsen twins.
The Olsen collections for Bik Bok are inspired by Mary-Kate and Ashley’s views on current trends and were supposedly designed with the Scandinavian “It” girl in mind. The first collection includes a full wardrobe designed to be styled with layers, with inspiration from the twins’ characteristic personal style. There’s lots of leather, wool jackets, knits, silk chiffon blouses, jersey tops and pants. We knew grunge was making a comeback this fall. And it it’s even more evident with the pieces in this collection.
What I particularly enjoy about this collection is that it has the grunge and rock and roll edginess while maintaining subtle feminine touches, such as silk chiffon blouses and floppy hats.
Long draped scarves and cropped leather jackets also keep the collection playful and feminine. So how much does something from this collection cost? The prices range from jersey tops at €24.95 (approximately $32.72) to a very limited edition leather jacket retailing at €499.95 (approximately $655.58).
In case you weren’t aware, the Olsens are more than just child actress prodigies resting on their toddler-created wealth. They recently won the prestigious CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award for their couture fashion line, The Row. The Olsens also have a clothing line for girls ages 4–14 as well as a beauty line.
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have come a long way since Full House. They’re now universally loved style icons who are continually inspiring street style fashion and new designer looks on the runway. Their new collection for Bik Bok, I think, only adds their appeal.
Are you ready to rock one of their looks this fall?
