I was born in July, so maybe I’m a little biased, but summer is my favorite time of the year: beaches, cookouts and lots of sun. However, lately, I’m finding myself longing for fall and cooler weather. It’s starting to be that time of the year where summer is winding down and stores begin having major sales to make room for fall fashion. I’m ready to welcome in the cooler weather and these fall fashion staples.
The Tweed Blazer
I am crushing on everything J.Crew right now – especially this tweed blazer. It’s the perfect fall staple to wear with boyfriend jeans or dressy for work during the week. The possibilities are endless for color combos, tops to wear underneath and jewelry. This piece will definitely transition through fall – and be a staple in your wardrobe!
Fabulous Flats
Who doesn’t need a fabulous pair (or several) of flats? These bright blue Steve Madden Eternnal flats are perfect! Especially for the office worker or DC commuter walking to the office. They come in many different colors/patterns and bump up any wardrobe – even outside of the office.
Leather
I never thought I’d say this, but leather is in for fall and I’m loving the trend! One item I’ve been seeing everywhere is leggings. They pair well with an oversized, lighter sweatshirt or blouse. Going out for a night with the girls? Throw on the leggings, top and blazer for a rocker-chic vibe! And don’t forget the heels.
Military-Inspired Jackets
I also stand behind the military-inspired trend, especially in jackets. This one from Piperlime has a feminine (yet still tough) touch with the leather sleeves. I love that it’s different in that respect. It’s definitely at the top of my ‘want’ list to toughen up a floral dress, rock with leggings or boyfriend jeans for a laid-back weekend at the cabin. So many possibilities!
Which piece are you falling for?
