The 2012 Miss District of Columbia USA court
Some of the most beautiful, talented, and confident ladies from Washington DC came out to compete for the coveted title of Miss District of Columbia USA 2012 at the JW Marriot Hotel, November 27, 2011, in hopes of then heading to compete for the title of Miss USA. The competition consisted of interview, swimsuit, evening gown and onstage question. The pageant was cohosted by Shauntay Hinton, Miss District of Columbia USA 2002 and Miss USA 2002, and Liane Angus, Miss District of Columbia USA 2001 and 1st runner up to Miss USA 2001.

Before a new Miss District of Columbia USA could be announced, we had to say goodbye to the reigning Miss District of Columbia USA 2011, Heather Swann. Heather thanked the pageant staff, her family, and friends for being her support system and for making her year an incredible and unforgettable journey. Heather said that her favorite moment of her reign was getting to see the President speak at an event and attending a dinner in his honor.

Becoming a Miss USA titleholder is a dream that these ladies competed to achieve, but in the end there can only be one who takes home the crown and sash. Congratulations to the new Miss District of Columbia USA 2012, Monique Thompkins, a Washington Redskins Cheerleader, who also won both the swimsuit and evening gown portions of the competition! Monique will compete at the national Miss USA Pageant next summer for the title of Miss USA! Good Luck Monique!
