Pia Toscano “Rocks” DC

Pia Toscano, an American Idol Finalist,  performed at the Hard Rock Cafe, in Washington DC, October 6, 2011, to support Pinktober. Pinktober is Hard Rock Cafe’s campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer the month of October. The evening started with a VIP reception, where guests who had purchased tickets for this event, got to meet Pia up close and personal. Pia took pictures with the guests, who also received autographed pictures of the singer. Toby Knapp, from Hot 99.5, was the guest emcee for this event.

Pia, who was signed by Interscope Records after being voted off American Idol, had everyone on their feet as she sang crowd favorites such as Lady Marmalade, I’ll Stand By You, Umbrella, Empire State of Mind, and Superwoman. Pia also sang her first hit single, This Time, which was released to fans, July 12, 2011. Items such as an autographed poster and t-shirt of Pia were auctioned off that night to raise money for breast cancer awareness.

Fans, such as myself, got to ask Pia questions onstage. I asked Pia if she would ever want to do a tour for the troops, who are serving overseas. Pia responded that she would love the opportunity to do that, especially because her grandfather, whom she was very close to, served in the United States Marine Corps. Pia also said that she looks forward to her cd coming out next year, so that fans can hear her music and not just songs she sings by other singers.
