DC Style Watch: Classic Styling Comes to Life

For several weeks you’ve been hearing about the stylish birthday party that I was planning; the modern 1960s tribute to my namesake Coretta Scott King. Well, the reality was better than my imagination.

It was an extremely stylish, gorgeous DC afternoon last Saturday at the Josephine Butler Parks Center on 15th Street Northwest. Warning:  picture heavy post.  Professional photography by Karina Djijo Studios.

It was a great (early) birthday party! Photo by Desiree McCombs. Delicious Southern Caramel birthday cake by Danielle's Desserts.

I requested that my guests dress in their interpretation of modern 1960’s style and boy, they did NOT disappoint! Classic never goes out of style.  Write that down, lol!

On the red carpet with one of my sister's, Clarissa, and fellow Tuskegee University graduates. My party was sponsored by my Coretta's Elegant Events party planning company and my Stella & Dot jewelry eboutique.

Loved Kenya's ensemble!

The Party Booths photobooth was a hit!

My friends & stylists from Behind the Beauty LLC definitely brought their “A” game in their genuine vintage frocks!

I marveled every time I greeted a new guest.  Their classic style was wonderful and truly added to the look and feel of the party. Well-dressed guests will do that. We had such a great time! I just don’t know what I will come up with next year!

This week’s mission: Help me with a theme for next year’s birthday bash, lol!  I want more photos of stylish guests! You can leave your suggestions, and your thoughts on this year’s theme, in the comments section below. (Don’t forget, comments are moderated so it might take a little while for yours to appear.)

And for your situational awareness, since being in DC I’ve had a Black Tie Affair and a Sunday Hat Birthday Brunch. Time for a new one!
