Reality DC Casting Call and a TBD Recap

Attention all young, dynamic and ambitious Washingtonians: Rob Lowe is calling…

The former West Wing star and the E! Network are teaming up to produce a reality series in DC about the young, fabulous and ambitious, and they are looking for “aspriring politicians” and “fearless journalists” in particular, according to the casting notice. The series is tentatively titled, Potomac Fever.

But with all of the beauty, culture and cuisine that an international city like Washington has to offer, reality TV execs have found mostly duds when it comes to filming the private lives of tastemakers in the nation’s capital.

Bravo TV’s Top Chef experienced its lowest-rated season since 2006 when it debut its political innuendo-packed DC version, according to The Washington Post.

MTV’s Real World presented similar dismal results, and Michaele Salahi may have been instrumental in generating a few spikes in ratings for Bravo, but in general most television critics (including one from  People magazine) called the Real Housewives of DC a snoozer.

Casting for Potomac Fever has reportedly been underway for a year and a half, according to an article in the November issue Washington Life.

Do you think you have what it takes to bring the District of Columbia out of its reality TV curse?

If so, then go to www.44blue.com and click on Potomac Fever to apply. (BTW, the production company’s website is a bit jacked up with some broken links… so if at first you don’t succeed, then try, try again!)

And now, we interrupt this casting notice to bring you our TBD TV entertainment segment of the week:

And remember: tune in to TBD TV every Monday evening at 4:30 and 6:30 when we bring you the local hook-up on food, fashion & fun in the nation’s capital!

xoxo,

Markette
