Staying Affectionate During Cold Season
As the days get cooler, it becomes much easier to catch something. From the flu to a common cold, you need to try to avoid getting sick at all cost. But if you are like me, you still like to go out despite the cold air and constantly opt to not wear a coat because it doesn’t go with your outfit. With such struggles, you are bound to get sick. And the problem with this is no one will want to be around you to catch what you have.
So what are you going to do with your significant other? You can’t just ignore him or her until you get better. Here are some ideas of what to do when you don’t want to mix sniffles and kisses.
Go viral, not virus
If you are really sick and must avoid your significant other at all costs, you just need to stay away from each other until things get better. While I know it’s hard to not physically see the one you love, we luckily live in a world dominated by technology. Just plan Skype dates and try to catch up on on each other’s day. You don’t have to dress up or anything, since you’re clearly sick and your significant other won’t judge you at all. Look but don’t touch is best for the both of you.
Netflix and call
Everyone’s favorite pass time seems to be “Netflix and Chill,” so do that with a twist. Instead of actually being physically by each other, plan a sick movie night in which you both stay at your own places. Like any movie night, pick the movie ahead of time and instead of cuddling, FaceTime each other. Since Halloween is coming up, I’d suggest watching a scary movie apart because it’ll be hilarious to see each other’s natural reaction over the phone. This may sound lame, but this is what I do if I’m sick and refuse to face my boyfriend. It’s cute to know you and your significant other are doing the same thing, and thus are kind of together despite being apart.
Suck it up
Let’s face it. Some of us live with our significant others. In this case, you are doomed. You’re going to get sick either way so have fun with it. Cuddle up close, but be warned to have tons of tissues on deck. And if you honestly don’t care how you look when you’re sick, invite your significant other regardless. Sure runny noses and kissing sound disgusting, but I guess it’s all germs anyways.
When you touch, you exchange germs. When you kiss, you exchange germs. If you cough on someone, you’re still exchanging germs. The point is that couples will always get each other sick no matter how hard you try to avoid it. I will refuse to see my boyfriend and opt for a date away from each other if I feel absolutely disgusting. But if I just feel kind of gross, I don’t mind being up close and personal. So it’s up to you and your significant other. Play it safe and have fun apart but sort of together. Or care less and make out, sniffles and all.
