This Season’s Hottest Eye Makeup Trend
The colors of summer: a cerulean blue sky reflected on a brilliant turquoise sea. These shades are currently hot, especially worn on the eyes. Shades of blue and teal are ubiquitous this season, whether worn as shadow, liner or both. Ever since Kim Kardashian’s iridescent turquoise-lined eyes created a stir back in the spring, the color has been adorning the eyes of fashion-forward beauties around the world.
Two of the trendiest ways to wear bright shades of blue this season include graphic cat eye — a high-impact look that’s surprisingly easy to achieve — and teal liner on the waterline accented with layering of multiple shades of blue and teal.
Copy the gorgeous look created by makeup artist Tom Pecheux by rimming the waterline and inner quarter of the upper and lower lids with a colorful liner, such as YSL Dessin Regard Bleu Acqua #12 or MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in High Def Cyan. Next, set liner with a light teal shade and brush the color of the inner corner of the eye. Blend rich cobalt cream liner into the crease and over the outer three-quarters of the eye and set with azure-hued powder shadow.
If the brilliant lapis graphic cat eye sported by the models at the 2015 Spring/Summer shows is a bit too much for you, try softening the look with a stunning turquoise cream shadow. I love the Chanel Stylo Fresh Effect in Azulejo from the Summer 2015 Mediterranee Collection. Using a cream pencil gives you control and allows you to apply directly to the lid for a smooth, bold arc.
An even simpler approach involves carelessly smudging a light blue eyeshadow all over the upper and lower lids. This gives a translucent look that’s perfect for summer. Add a touch of light turquoise liner to the waterline to finish the look.
Keep the rest of your makeup muted when wearing shades of turquoise and blue on your eyes — nude lipstick, a wash of bronzer and a touch of highlighter and you’re ready to go.
