Speed Dining
Its a well proven mathematical law that the greater number of stellar restaurants in a city the less time and money you have to experience them. A new dining option made available through Dishcrawl DC provides a solution to that problem. Dishcrawl takes guests on a restaurant tour of DC neighborhoods allowing participants to build their restaurant resumes over a fun, social evening.
Columbia Heights Eats
DC on Heels jumped aboard Dishcrawl’s Columbia Heights tour with 20 other diners for a field trip of the neighborhood’s revitalized restaurant scene.
Acre 121
This low-country bbq place rolled out a comfort food platter of pulled pork sliders, mac n cheese and collard greens. The sliders were a mix of bbq styles that captured the savory vinegar flavor of Carolina’s brand along with Memphis’ saucy moistness. Acre 121’s stained wood interior gives it a down home feeling while historical DC black and white pictures on the walls and standing entertainment from projected Charlie Chaplin films provided the nostalgia. Even on your first visit, it feels like you’ve been coming to Acre 121 for years.
Alero
The second tour stop brought the group to Alero. Guests sat in a cozy lounge while feasting on a buffet of spinach quesadillas, taquitos and spicy calamari. Outfitted with Day of the Dead decor, Alero’s dim light interior presents itself as an authentic Tequileria, a good place for sipping cool, salty margs. Poster cutouts of Dos Equis’ Most Interesting Man in the World were spotted no less than three times, positioned in interesting places on the ceiling, in a corner, behind a table.
Pho 14
For the night’s main entree, Dischcrawl led the group to Pho 14 for a vegetarian experience. With a two dish ensemble, Pho 14 gave Dishcrawlers a hearty sample of Vietnamese dining. The Banh Xeo crepe was a smart crisp of shrimp, green onions and bean sprouts while the Vermicilli bowl held a potpourri of fresh shredded lettuce, fried vegetables and tofu topped with sweet chili sauce.
Dine the District
Dishcrawl understands that exploring a city is best done through food. Keep on eye out for upcoming Dishcrawl events to discover new parts of DC and the best meals they have to offer!
