Which Facials Are Good for Stress Relief?

As you are prepping for the holidays, don’t forget to take some time to rest and relax. After all, you are probably on holiday break from work, and you need some time for yourself, as well to be ready and energized for the funfest that begins once your family arrives.

A great way to relax and take a quick time out is with a facial. You have probably read about the current trend of facials with LED lights for acne and inflammation, but have you ever looked into which type of facials are good for just relaxing and falling asleep at the spa? With so many options, how can someone know which one to have done?

I recently got an amazing lymphatic facial, which literally had me asleep for 3 hours soon after and made my tension headache from allergies and general stress complete dissipate.

This had me thinking: I should make it a point to get a relaxing facial every time I go during the holidays instead of one that focuses only on my acne. Facials put you in a very restful mindset and last from 20-40 minutes, so you can always get a quick facial in and can help to mentally train your mind and body to more readily put themselves into “relax mode.”

Below are different types of facials that you might like to try to give your mind some rest before the holiday craze begins.

Lymphatic facial

This facial works by releasing toxins in your body by massaging the lymph nodes that are found on your face and neck. The drainage that comes from mild brushing strokes on the face reduces bags under eyes, puffiness and helps combat minor skin irritations. Because pressure is used on the face and neck, it releases any tensions on those areas and allows you to nap.

Hydra facial

A hydra facial uses a tool that like a vacuum to remove the debris in your pores. The opening up of your pores actually feels very relaxing and sort of tickles. You feel at ease and slowly begin to relax when this facial starts. Along with a thorough massage of the face, the same tool then puts a serum of your choice made from fruits and vitamins back into your skin. Your skin is left glowing and supple.

Acupuncture facial

An acupuncture facial places 30 tiny needles all over your face. This might sound like it would sting, but really you don’t feel anything at all. Unless you have a phobia of needles, like I do, so it took me about five of these facials to finally grow accustomed to it. Once the needles are placed, a relaxing sensation quickly comes over your face and then body, and you have nothing left to do but fall asleep. Of course, usually fragrant smells are involved with this facial along with relaxing music, which will make you feel like you are falling asleep in a secret garden.

Georgetown Aveda Salon and Spa is a great place to get a quick facial. Most of the other spas in the area require you to schedule in advance, but Aveda can always usually take you same day.
