Beauty Trends from N.Y. Fashion Week

From vibrant hues to glowing skin, we saw some pretty extreme looks on the runway this spring. New York Fashion Week gave us a sneak peek into the hottest beauty trends for spring. The looks this year were edgy and bold, yet surprisingly easy to pull off for the average woman. Take a look at the top beauty trends to try before anyone else:

Vibrant lips

Bold, matte lips were all over the runways. From bright reds to oxblood hues to vibrant corals, bright lipstick brought a pop of color to the models’ looks. Keep the rest of your face natural with minimal makeup to really make your lips stand out.

Glitter

Many makeup artists went with a glamorous and romantic look using glitter, and they got creative. Many models wore glitter not only on the eyelids, but in other more expected areas – like in their eyebrows – as well. Givenchy even had a full mask made with glitter. Make this an everyday look by using some subtle glitter as an eye shadow.

Twisted braids

This hair style is both chic and effortless. A super simple version that was seen on Public School’s runway involves just taking two strands of hair and twisting in into a braid. Classic three-strand braids were also seen on the runways. The key to this look is keeping it sleek and tight, rather than a looser, more romantic braid.

Blue eye makeup

This look is very versatile and can be adapted to however you choose to do your makeup. Blue eyelids were a big hit on the runways, whether in the form of bright blue shadow all over the lids or a more subtle swipe of eyeliner. We saw all kinds of blue hues – from baby blue to dark navy. This look can be as subtle or as extreme as you want, and can be achieved using eye shadow, eyeliner or even blue mascara.

Colored French manicure

Neutral, one-tone nails have been on trend for the past year, but we saw something new on the runway for nails. Nail art and French manicure designs made a huge comeback, with some new twists. Models sported French manicures, swapping out the usual white tips for a bold green or orange.

Dewy, glossy skin

The dewy skin trend is nothing new, but artists took it to the extreme at fashion week. The idea is to imitate what you would look like after a night of dancing and partying – but maybe a little more put together. Models wore Vaseline on the face and clear lip gloss on the eyelids and cheekbones. Incorporate this into your own look by using a more subtle cream highlight on the cheeks.

Hair accessories

This trend may seem pretty generic, but the runways featured all kinds of headwear ranging from simple black headbands to jeweled barrettes. Some of the styles seen on the runway were more ornate, but you can adjust this to your everyday style with classic tied headbands and simple accessories to add to any style.
