Spring Into a New Outfit

As the weather begins to warm up, first date outfits need to transition with the season. Although it feels as if an eternity has passed since last spring, it is time to switch out leggings for skirts and boots for sandals.

Dresses

Springtime is the best time for the tried-and-true classic spring dress. Sleeved high-waist dresses in cute, spring colors such as turquoise and canary yellow are a sure way to impress your date and are versatile enough for any type of restaurant or venue he or she may take you. Another option in the dress category is the shirtdress. These are great for a more low-key date and give off a down-to-earth vibe. Shirtdresses will have your date feeling comfortable with you right away.

If the day is not quite warm enough for a dress, pick out some skinny jeans and pair them with a loose, breezy blouse or peplum shirt. This is a very stylish look that will have you feeling comfortable without compromising style. This is a fantastic outfit if you are meeting up for drinks at a bar or lounge.

Color Palettes

Spring colors tend to range in the pastel arena, which works well for dates as these colors give a feminine vibe. But if that’s not your thing, toughen up your look by pairing a spring dress with some boots or a denim or leather jacket. You can also try incorporating bold colors into an otherwise neutral palette such as pairing a scarlet A-line skirt with black, white or tan. This will pack a punch of color into your look without being too soft.

Shoes

As for shoes, try throwing on a pair of wedges. They are more comfortable than stilettos, which means you will be more willing to take a stroll with your date after drinks and dessert. This is also the perfect season to start incorporating some peep toe shoes into your wardrobe. Whether they be heels or flats, peep toe shoes are the best spring time shoes to be flirty and sweet on a first date.

Celebrate the arrival of spring (and the end of a winter that was just too darn long) by incorporating pastels, florals and wedges into your next first date. Happy Spring fling dating, D.C.!
