It’s me.  I am Hennie

A 22-year-old girl, with short blond hair and dimples, stands on a hill looking at the world around her.  To begin my story, I’ll have to go back to the small fishing town in the Netherlands where I was born.  I lived there my whole life and dreamed of leaving to the ”Great America”–the land of the dreams!

Being at a point of either: going back to school, working in a fish factory or taking the BIG step and chasing my dream, I decided it was time to spread my wings and discover what the world had to offer.

She is really doing this?

August 15th: Staring out of the airplane window, I started to realize this was real.  I left my old life and started my USA journey  as an au pair. It was not exactly a dream start.  I ended up in a not-so-great family out in the cornfields of Chicago.  After two quick weeks, I learned that this was not my way to go and decided to give it another try.

Hello Cali…and hello new life.  This is what I’m talking about.  But, as we all know, all good things  eventually come to an end… but my US adventure is not.  (I’m  just getting warmed up!)

Extending

Great! Been there done that, but how about the East Coast? I fell in love with being a Californian Girl, but I wanted to have the ”Full American Experience’‘.  So, here I am with a new (amazing) family, new city and above all a new and improved me.  Last year, I started documenting my life’s changes, adventures and my out-of-hand shopping addiction in a blog.  I discovered how much I like to write and share my visions of fashion and travel.

What’s in store?

I am super excited to announce that I’ll be leaving this Saturday for a Christmas/New Year’s Eve visit to the Netherlands after being away almost one and a half year from family and friends.  I will be telling you all about it in the New Year!
