Getting away for the weekend is always a welcome retreat from your everyday life. It is important to pack everything that you need, but it is so easy to pack too much. So, what do you need to pack for your weekend getaway? These tips will help you decide what to take with you and what you should probably leave at home.
The right clothes
You probably know where you are going before you get to packing. Knowing what the weather will be like is essential! Read up on the area and pack for the weather, including thermal clothes and winter jackets for colder climates. If it is going to be warm, make sure to grab some shorts or leggings instead of jeans.
Pack intuitively for 2-3 days out of town. This includes nightwear, underwear and socks. You can also include a pair of sandals and all-day shoes in case you are out sightseeing a lot.
Pack some comfortable clothes, as well as a fancy outfit in case you choose to have a night out.
Toiletries
Your basic toiletries are necessary, of course. Make sure to pack any special face washes, lotions and moisturizers that you use daily. Pack some perfume to keep smelling nice and deodorant to stay fresh.
If you have contacts, make sure to pack your solution and case for them. Likewise, if you take any medications, take enough with you to cover the trip. Your toothbrush, toothpaste and hairbrush are given necessities.
Try to choose a few basic makeup items. Foundation, eyeliner, lipstick and a small face and eye palette are great for this purpose. Try not to pack your entire makeup collection, just the things you will use.
Accessories
In addition to the right clothes and your essential care items, you should pack a few accessories to make your time away from home a little easier. Sunglasses and a hat are a must in sunnier climates. You can also go with warm winter hats, scarves and gloves for colder climates. It may seem like a lot, but you will be more comfortable.
Also, check to see what you will be doing during your weekend away. If you are going to head to the beach, make sure to take a towel and your swimsuit, as well as some sunscreen. Packing for your activities can make your trip stress-free.
Electronics
In today’s world, we are always plugged in. Make sure that you at least take your cell phone charger with you. Other optional electronics include a laptop in case something comes up, a camera and headphones for most of your devices. If you have some downtime and want to listen to a podcast or read a book, you will want universal headphones.
Pack the chargers for all these devices so they don’t run low on batteries.
Essential documents
No matter where you are going, keeping all your documentation straight is important. Make sure that you have your wallet, including all your ID cards and credit cards. Pull a little cash out of the ATM to keep on you, just in case.
Take any essential permits, passports or booking information for your hotel. Make sure that you have the proper insurance and registration for your car with you, especially if you are heading to a different state.
A backpack for everything
While you probably won’t pack all of this into a backpack, you should at least have one with you for daily use. This is important if you are hiking, sightseeing or even just to carry instead of your purse. Shop Style Shark has a great selection of women’s accessories, jewelry, hats, clothes and more to take with you on your trip. Have everything you need right at your fingertips and don’t leave any essential items behind.
