What to Pack for Rehab Treatment
Going to rehab is a brave decision. No matter where you are in your journey, you have made the hardest decision of all already. While rehab isn’t a cure, it is a step in the right direction.
With all the things you have encountered so far and all the things you will walk through moving forward, packing for rehab shouldn’t be stressful. Rehab clothing should be simple and straightforward, bringing you both comfort and security.
1. Gym clothes
You might be thinking that you aren’t an avid gym goer even now, so why bother bringing gym clothes? Part of rehab is learning how to take care of yourself again. Getting into the habit of going to the gym is a great start!
A few pairs of workout pants paired with some great tops along with your favorite tennis shoes are perfect for the gym or for lounging around. Part of your treatment might include some physical activity as well.
It is also important to find workout clothes that make you feel confident. You aren’t going to want to wear it if you don’t feel good in it!
2. Cozy pajamas
Rehab is going to be a foreign experience, one where you might feel like you don’t know anything about yourself or the people and things around you. Having a pair of comfortable pajamas will bring a sense of security and familiarity to you. This rehab experience is meant to challenge you, but also change you. Having something that keeps you rooted, even something as small as a pair of pajamas is important.
You might even opt for a luxurious bathrobe and a pair of fuzzy slippers. This is the perfect pair to throw on right after a bath or a shower. At night, this is also a great outfit of choice to throw on while you are relaxing.
3. Easy to wash items
You will find that most rehab facilities have a strict dress code, so it is best to check ahead of time. The space you are given will also be limited, so make sure to plan accordingly, being sure not to overpack.
Your best bet is to focus on comfortable items of clothing that are easy to layer and wear numerous times. Make sure you also take into consideration that, while you will have access to a laundry room, you will want to have clothing that you can wash easily that doesn’t have difficult care instructions.
4. Season appropriate attire
Prepare ahead of time, being sure to pack items of clothing that align with the time of year. For instance, if it is the dead of winter, lean more towards jackets, pants and warm clothing items. For summer, opt for short sleeve and pants with the option to add layers if the facility becomes cold.
While there is no guarantee as to how the facility itself will feel while you are there, you can always bring additional layers to put on and take off as needed. Anyways, having a jacket and a nice pair of fuzzy slippers is always a great choice.
5. Bathing suit
