Looking for a Way to Stengthen Your Hair?
My hair is very brittle. Even though I use many hair products, I still comb it when I get out of the shower and so many strands stay stuck on my wet-dry brush. I know it is from my parched, bleached, in the sun, brittle strands that aren’t literally hanging on by more then likely a split end. I need to stop using all my current conditioners, purple shampoos and heavy masks, and just use something that will work to strengthen my strands so that I don’t pull out wads of hair every time I comb it. I can’t live with a knotty head all day, so I have to find the remedy — whatever it is — fast!
When I sat down to research what to do, the following information is what I learned, and I will test it out in the coming weeks:
First, realize that hair breakage because of damaged hair is different from hair loss that is from your scalp. Damaged and brittle hair has split ends that travel up the hair shaft and end up breaking over time or with daily brushing, showering, styling, etc. Because my hair is bleached blonde at the moment, a lot of my hair loss is due to over-processing.
To strengthen your strands, stop using any heat/styling tools. Let your hair air dry and put some mousse in it to give it style, but stop with the heat because it will make your split ends break faster. Which reminds me, the reason getting a trim is important every couple of weeks is to keep your ends nice and smooth, so less hair loss occurs.
Also, taking a multi-vitamin for hair is great because what you put inside your body affects how your hair grows and if it is healthy. Be sure to take a lot of vitamin C for healthy hair, which is included in most of today’s hair gummy vitamins.
Last but not least, you will need to use a hair protein mask once a week and wrap it in a towel, apply a little heat over the towel — just about 4 minutes of blow drying — and leave it on overnight. I recently learned that too much of a good thing can be really bad for your hair, too. Like using a protein hair mask might weigh your hair down more and pull your strands out. So make sure to keep it at intervals of once a week. Protein helps make your strands long and strong, so with a hair mask that has protein in it your strands gain strength little by little and not break off so easily.
