Keys to a Good Night’s Sleep

When you are tweaking your beauty routine, you probably think of cleansing products, trending manicures and fashion-forward wardrobe picks. However, the true key to lasting beauty may be cheaper and easier than you think. Sleeping Beauty’s flawless complexion didn’t come from royal blood. The adage about beauty sleep is actually true. Getting the right amount of rest can offer a wealth of beauty benefits. Heading to bed just a few hours earlier may be exactly what you need to enhance your look and reach your beauty goals.

The ideal amount of sleep is between seven and nine hours. Anyone who is regularly logging less than six hours of sleep a night may start suffering from the effects. Lack of sleep can lead to weight gain, slower cognitive processes and an increased risk for diabetes, heart attack and stroke. When you are getting the proper amount of sleep, however, the picture is much rosier. You will experience fewer wrinkles, a brighter complexion and fuller hair. Those bags under your eyes may smooth out, and you are sure to sport a happier and more relaxed visage from feeling healthier.

If you are ready to start boosting your sleep time, start by identifying the barriers that are keeping you from drifting off in bed. Is your sleeping space too loud or too bright? Is your HVAC system failing to keep it the proper temperature? Perhaps your afternoon and evening habits are getting in the way. Discovering the triggers that are keeping you awake can help you improve your sleep strategy to get the rest you need. Check out the following infographic to learn more.
