Makeup trends come and go, but one thing that never goes out of fashion is the appearance of flawless skin.
Let’s face it, no one has flawless skin. We all have varying details that makes us unique, from freckles to moles, wrinkles and spots. It is not possible to wake up and look like a cover girl without some serious tweaking.
Over the years loads of products have come to market, new applicators, advanced creams, natural remedies and modern techniques for applying it all. We think a flawless, natural look is pretty easy to achieve so have a look at our guide and give it a go
Preparation
OK, so you can cover up a multitude of sins, but the best place to start is ensuring you have a great skincare routine. Find a regime and products that suit you. Coconut oil is a really great moisturiser to use at night. It has the added benefit of being antibacterial so leaving it on at night can help fight spots and imperfections caused by pollutants. It is important to ensure you wash your face every morning using a delicately balanced face wash. Soap is very drying for your skin so do some research to find one that suits you. Be sure to wash thoroughly with warm water so your pores open then end with a splash of cold water to close them up again. Follow this guide for easy facials and try to do this twice a week. Never rub your face, dab it dry with a towel then use your favourite moisturiser, go for one with a good SPF as sun damage is one of the causes of freckles and added wrinkles!
The basic elements
Flawless skin is all about looking natural, but with a healthy glow. To do this, it pays to have a selection of applicators to bring your foundation to life. There are loads on the market including these from Bdellium tools.
Your foundation should be matched to the lightest part of your wrist or, better still your neck. There are loads of brands offering a free color matching service so make the most of this for ultimate confidence. Using your sponge or brush, start with a base layer of foundation. Gently dabbing or sweeping. Once you have full coverage, let it set and focus on your eyebrows. Use a shade no more than three shades darker than your natural hair color. Follow these rules to ensure you get the perfect arch and above all remember, eyebrows are sisters, not twins! Return to your foundation and apply a light top layer, again by dabbing, paying particular attention on your problem areas. It is useful to have a highlighter or another foundation two shades lighter than your base. Use this to dab around your eyes and under your brow line, along the top of your nose and between your brows. Giving you a gentle bit of contouring. Likewise, use a blusher or bronzer to give depth and definition to your cheekbones.
Build a light layer of mascara, lifting your lashes as you go and finish with a tinted moisturiser to bring your lips to life!
