The Great Gatsby re-make featuring stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan is coming out soon and with it you can expect a flashback of fashion. Check out below to see how you can achieve the looks of the Roaring Twenties with collections and styles reminiscent of the era.

Flapper dresses

The style commonly known as a “flapper” dress was a staple of the 1920s. The rebellious women of the time did away with long dresses and corsets and dared to bare their legs with these more revealing looks. They hung loose on the body and often featured art deco patterns and sequin embellishments such as these styles found at Top Shop.

The Jazz Age style has even made it into the wedding world. Rumor has it that the Fall 2013 collection of wedding dresses at David’s Bridal was created with the 1920s in mind. If you don’t have time to wait for the debut, the Galina Signature collection features several dresses that fill the bill. Expect to see a lot of brides opting for headpieces and that old Hollywood glamour look.

Men’s suits

Don’t worry men, you aren’t left out of the fashion fun. You can dress like DiCaprio with The Gatsby Collection by Brooks Brothers. The clothing chain has been around since the 1800s, so not only is the collection is inspired by the costumes worn in the movie, but original Brooks Brothers
designs as well.

Glamorous glitz

You can’t talk about the 1920s without mentioning diamonds, pearls and feathers. Tiffany & Co. partnered with the movie to bring us just that. The glamorous Great Gatsby Collection is inspired by the movie and featured in it as well. Ranging from $250-$875,000, the collection also features items for men such as cufflinks and flasks.

What do you think about this style flashback? Do you plan on trying to get the look or do you feel it is better left in the past?
